Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a self defence martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and ground fighting.  It revolves around the concept, taken from traditional Japanese jūjutsu, that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger, heavier opponent by using leverage and weight distribution, taking the fight to the ground and using a number of holds and submissions to defeat them. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling and self-defence situations.

At SBG Bradford we have a dedicated team of coaches, led by Coach Spen, a distinguished 2nd-degree black belt under the mentorship of Matt Thornton at SBG. Joining Coach Spen is the experienced Jason Johnson, a Brown belt, and the accomplished Marie Spencer, a Purple belt with 2 stripes. Together, they provide a comprehensive and supportive learning environment.
